Sahoja Celebrates the Spirit of “A day on rather than a day off!”
What better way to recognize the impact that Martin Luther King, Jr. had on our society than to put forth an effort to help others, serve in the community and make the world a better place. A national day of service is needed now more than ever. But why limit it to one day?
Martin Luther King, Jr. was a prophet of peace. A measured and sonorous orator. A man who mobilized millions of Americans and fueled a movement that used the principles of non-violence and compassion to drive social change.
Since his death in 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr.’s thoughts on non-violence and compassion have inspired generations of leaders, thinkers and peaceful activists. His hard-won wisdom has influenced our team at Sahoja so deeply that we’ve structured our values around many of his guiding principles: Embracing Diversity, Transparency, Positive Impact, Relevancy, and Generosity.
These values fuel our mission on a profound level, and they inform all of our choices — ranging from the nonprofits that we’re partnering with to the causes we are supporting, to the products that we’re curating for you in our ethical marketplace. Covid-19 may limit our ability to work side-by-side in our community, however there is another way you can help others. Just by joining Sahoja, every member receives 10,000 points (a $10 value) that can immediately be donated to the charitable project of their choice. And by referring a friend, another 10,000 points is awarded to you! Just imagine for a moment if you referred 5 friends to Sahoja — that would total $100 value of donations to charity (your friend’s points plus the ones you earn for referring them)!
One of our favorite quotes from Martin Luther King, Jr. is this:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.”
King, and the community that rose up to join him, had a vision for a better world. Together, they became a mighty force for love, courage, compassion, non-violence and social change at a time when society needed it most.
Sahoja believes that if we come together in a positive, peaceful, purpose-driven way, we can move mountains, just like King and his community did.
He was a lighthouse to the whole world. And we can be, too.
We hope you’ll join us, because we are Stronger Together®.
